I'm dreaming of a white Christmas..........

righty ho folks long time no speak and all that, Lots of new work coming shortly promise promise! but first I just thought I would drop by to give you a little make up tip for the festive season.
So winter is upon us lots of parties and work dos and going home for chistmas and seeing people you havn't seen since last christmas etc etc
obviously you want to look your best, tis the season to sparkle after all, but as we all know it is rather hard to sparkle all the time. especially when you wake up on some ones sofa feeing a little delicate with yesterdays mascara half down your face and not only do you have to rush to work but also make your self look sufficiantly presentable to do it all again the following evening.
So it all to easy to fall into the trap of thinking if you trowel it on its all going to be fine, IT'S NOT, no really its not seriously, just look at that girl sat opposite you on the tube, yeah thats right the shiney orange one with the strange red marks at the side of her face the tarantula lashes and the permenantaly supprised look, it ain't a pretty sight is it and just imagine what she looks like underneath!!!
So first and foremost people we all know that a good foundation can cover a multitude but for the love of god GET ONE THAT MATCHES YOUR SKIN TONE!!! there are nice ladies in the shop who can help you with sort of thing. personally I'm rather fond of lancome at the moment, but I do accept that at £26 a pop it is a little on the expensive side so if you are going for a highstreet brand I would recommend Loreal which I belive is about a tenner. DON'T whatever you do buy Rimmel or one of those weird superdrug glitter nail polish type brands, those are fine for certain things but not when it comes to foundation. Not only will it not cover well or apply well but skin care is so important so its worth forking out a little bit more for a better quality product.
Also when your applying, be it with brush or finger tips, don't forget to go all the way to the edges, remeber chins, necks ears etc, Tide marks don't look particularly feching on harbour walls, they look even worse on your face.
Next the reason I got onto this little rant in the first place, the usage of white.....
So there we are carefully painting our faces to make it look as if we are not to about to go on the lash for the third night running, obviously we are steering towards lighter shades of eyeshadow in a bid to appear bright eyed and bushy tailed, maybe adding a bit of glitter, pigment powder, your MAC your Barry M etc etc.
Be very very careful if you go for white, because unless it is extremely pigmented and your using it in the sort of quantities that will make you look like frosty the snowman, it is going to be somewhat translucent, and incase you havn't noticed, although you may well be of the caucasian race your skin is not actually white, and the way white works against a pinky yellowy browny background is to start look either pale blue or grey, and if like me you suffer from terrible dark circles it is not something you want anywhere near your eyes.
to any ladies of colour reading this, it has exactly the same effect on dark skin and you don't want ashy looking eyes
So the way to make it work, so the best thing to do, even if your going to blend it with another colour anyway. Mix it with a neutral toned eyshadow first, myself i find that 'cream soda' by Bare Minerals mixed with a bit of 'frost' by MAC gets a great result everytime.
Right thats all folks, Have a lovely Christmas I'm off to make myself look presentable..........
